Privacy Policy

A jeweler is trusted with more than jewelry. This page sets out plainly what we know about you, why we know it, and who else ever sees it.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to Adriano Jewelry of 333 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02108: to this website, to our shop, and to the phone calls and messages in between. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions.
2. Information you give us
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and postal address, when you enquire, order or leave a repair.
- Order and repair records: what you bought or left with us, the date, the price, the work carried out, and the photographs we take of an item before and after we work on it.
- Fitting and design details: ring and bracelet sizes, engraving text, design notes, stone preferences, and the sketches or references you send us for a commission.
- Gift and delivery details: the name and address of a recipient when a piece is going to someone else. Please only give us someone else's details if they would be comfortable with it.
- Occasion notes: an anniversary or a birthday, where you have asked us to remember it, so a repair or a commission lands in time.
- Payment details: see section 5. We do not store card numbers.
- Identification: for certain high-value transactions and for any purchase of goods from a customer, we are required to record identification. See section 6.
- Appraisal and insurance information: the valuation documents we produce for you, and any insurer or loss adjuster reference you ask us to work with.
3. Information we collect automatically
This website is a set of static pages served by our hosting provider. Like any web server, it records standard technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, your browser and operating system, and the page that referred you. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
One part of the site is loaded from Google, and your browser contacts Google directly for it, which means Google receives your IP address and can set its own cookies:
- Google Maps shows the map of the shop on our contact page. It loads only when you scroll down to it, and only on that page.
What Google does with that information is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours. Beyond that one, we run no advertising trackers and no third-party marketing pixels. The typefaces are served from this site's own server, so reading a page here asks nothing of any font service.
4. In the shop
Our premises are monitored by CCTV for the safety of our staff and customers and the security of stock. Recordings are kept for a limited period on a rolling basis and are overwritten unless an incident requires us to preserve them, in which case they may be shared with the police or our insurer. We also keep written repair tickets and appointment notes, which are stored securely and treated like any other customer record.
5. Payment information
Card payments are handled by our payment processor. Your full card number does not reach our systems and we never store it. We keep only what a receipt needs: the amount, the date, the payment type and the last four digits. Do not send card details, or a photograph of a card, by email or social media message; if we ever need payment details, we will take them in person or over a phone call you have placed to us.
6. Identity checks and legal obligations
Jewelers carry obligations that most shops do not. We may be required to record identification and keep a transaction record where you buy at or above certain values, where a payment is made in cash, or where we buy gold, silver or second-hand pieces from you. Massachusetts law also requires dealers in second-hand valuables to keep records of what they buy and from whom, and to make those records available to the police. Where the law requires this, we cannot complete the transaction without it. This information is used for that purpose alone, and never for marketing.
7. How we use your information
- to answer your enquiry and give you a quote;
- to take payment, complete your order, and deliver or hold your piece;
- to carry out repairs, restoration, resizing, valuation and warranty work, and to contact you about the item you left with us;
- to keep a record of what we made or sold you, so a resize, a repair or a replacement stone years later is straightforward;
- to meet our tax, accounting and record-keeping obligations;
- to prevent fraud and theft and to protect our staff, customers and stock;
- to send you occasional news about the shop, but only if you have asked us to.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
8. Who we share it with
Only where the work requires it, and only what that party needs:
- Payment processors, to take and refund payments.
- Shipping and courier services, to deliver a piece. They receive the delivery name, address and phone number.
- Gemological laboratories, casters, setters and specialist craftsmen, where a job needs a hand we do not have in-house. They receive the item and the job details, not your full customer record.
- Insurers, appraisers and loss adjusters, where you have asked us to prepare or support a claim or valuation.
- Our accountants and professional advisers, under a duty of confidence.
- Technology providers who host this site and our business systems.
- Law enforcement and regulators, where the law requires it, or to investigate theft or fraud.
9. Marketing
We will only send you marketing if you have opted in, and every message carries a way to stop. Asking to stop marketing does not stop the service messages we need to send about an order or a repair in progress.
10. Cookies
We set no cookies of our own, and we run no advertising or analytics cookies. The one exception is the Google Maps panel on our contact page described in section 3: Google may set its own cookies when that map loads. If we later add anything else that sets cookies (an analytics tool or an online store, for example), we will update this page before it goes live and ask for your consent where consent is required. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies at any time, and blocking them will stop the map from loading but will not affect anything else on this site.
11. Social media
We are on Facebook and Instagram. Those platforms are run by Meta, not by us, and anything you send us there is handled under Meta's own privacy policy as well as this one. Please keep sensitive details (payment information, identification documents, home addresses, or the fact that a valuable piece is at a particular address) out of social media messages, and call the shop instead.
12. Security
Customer records are held on access-controlled systems, paper tickets are kept out of public areas, and items in our care are stored secured overnight. Only the people who need a record can reach it. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if a breach ever affects your information, as the law requires.
13. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that go nowhere: up to two years, then deleted.
- Sales, repair and commission records: kept for the life of the relationship and at least seven years afterwards, for tax and warranty purposes. Design records for a bespoke piece may be kept longer so it can be repaired or matched in future.
- Records required by law, including identification taken under section 6: for the period the law specifies.
- CCTV: a short rolling period, unless preserved for an incident.
- Marketing consent: until you withdraw it.
14. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- delete information we no longer need, though we cannot delete what we are legally required to keep;
- stop sending you marketing;
- stop using your photographs. Where you have allowed us to show a commission in our portfolio or on social media, you can withdraw that permission at any time and we will take it down.
Ask by phone or in person and we will verify who you are before acting; we will not hand over a customer record to a caller we cannot identify. We respond within thirty days. We will never treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
15. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If a child has given us details, contact us and we will delete them.
16. Links to other sites
Where we link out (to a laboratory, a supplier, or our social media pages), those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
17. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will revise this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
