Terms & Conditions
These terms are the agreement between Adriano Jewelry and everyone who visits this website, buys a piece, commissions a design, or leaves an item with us for repair.
1. Agreement to these terms
By using this website, placing an order, or handing us an item for repair, restoration or valuation, you agree to the terms set out on this page. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site or our services. Where we have given you a separate written estimate, repair ticket or commission agreement, that document governs that particular job and these terms fill in anything it does not cover.
2. Who we are
Adriano Jewelry is a family jeweler at 333 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02108, trading for over twenty-three years in a craft learned in Europe. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Adriano Jewelry; “you” means the person using the site or our services.
3. Using this website
This site is provided for your personal, non-commercial use: to see what we make, to understand what we do, and to get in touch. You may not copy the site, scrape it, resell access to it, or use it to build or train a competing service or dataset without our written permission.
4. Products, descriptions and availability
Much of what we sell is one of a kind, and every piece is photographed under real light. We describe metals, stones, weights and measurements as accurately as we can, but:
- Colour varies between screens. A yellow gold that looks warm on one monitor may look pale on another, and gemstone colour especially should be judged in person.
- Handmade and antique pieces carry small variations. Two rings of the same design will not be identical, and we consider that a feature of the work rather than a fault.
- Weights, carat figures and dimensions are approximate unless they are stated on an accompanying laboratory certificate.
- Stock shown here may already have sold in the shop. Listing a piece on this site is an invitation to enquire, not a binding offer to sell it.
We correct errors in price, description or availability as soon as we find them, and we may do so after an order has been placed. If a correction affects your order we will contact you and you may confirm it at the corrected terms or cancel for a full refund.
5. Prices, payment and financial transactions
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable sales tax, which is added at the point of sale. Because precious metal and gemstone markets move, quoted prices are held for the period stated on the quote and are otherwise subject to change without notice.
- Deposits. Custom work, special orders and reservations require a deposit before we begin. Deposits are applied to the final balance.
- Balance. The balance is due before a piece leaves the shop or is shipped. We do not release goods against an unpaid balance.
- Authorisation. By paying, you confirm you are authorised to use the payment method presented. We may verify identity and payment details before completing a high-value transaction, and we may decline or cancel any transaction we cannot verify.
- Failed and reversed payments. If a payment is declined, charged back or reversed, we may withhold the goods, cancel the order, and recover our reasonable costs.
6. Custom design commissions
Commissions run to a written agreement covering the design, the materials, the price and the timeline. Please read it carefully: a custom piece is made for you alone and cannot be resold, which is why the cancellation and return terms for commissions are stricter than for stock.
- Once you approve the final design and we have begun work, the deposit is non-refundable to the extent of the labour and materials already committed.
- Timelines are honest estimates. Stone sourcing, casting and setting can run long, and we will tell you as soon as we know a date will move.
- Where you supply your own stones or metal, you confirm you own them and are free to have them worked. Older stones and mounts can carry hidden stress; we will point out any risk we can see before we start, but we cannot guarantee a supplied stone against damage during setting.
7. Repairs, restoration and items left with us
- Every item left with us is receipted. Please keep your ticket; we release repairs against the ticket or against proof of identity.
- We will contact you for approval before carrying out work that exceeds the estimate.
- Some repairs carry unavoidable risk: heat can alter certain stones, worn settings can fail, and plated or previously repaired items may not survive rework. We will tell you when we see that risk, and proceeding is your decision.
- Items not collected within ninety days of our notice that the work is finished may, after a further written notice, be disposed of in accordance with Massachusetts law to recover unpaid charges.
8. Withdrawing or cancelling services
We may decline, suspend or withdraw any service, order or commission (including refusing a purchase or a repair) where we reasonably need to. That includes suspected fraud, a payment we cannot verify, an item whose ownership is unclear, work we judge unsafe for the piece, abuse of our staff, or a breach of these terms. Where we cancel an order for any reason other than your breach, we refund what you have paid in full. We may also change, suspend or discontinue any part of this website at any time.
9. Copyright and intellectual property
Everything on this site (the photographs, the written copy, the layout, the code and the Adriano Jewelry name) belongs to us or to the people who licensed it to us, and is protected by copyright and trademark law.
- You may view the site, and share a link to any page on it.
- You may reproduce a short quotation or a single image for non-commercial editorial or personal use, provided you credit Adriano Jewelry and link back to this site.
- You may not use our photographs or copy in any commercial context, in advertising, or in a marketplace listing; alter or crop them to remove attribution; or present our work as your own.
- Our designs are our intellectual property. Commissioning a piece buys you the piece, not the right to reproduce the design.
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, write to us at the address below with the details and we will look into it promptly.
10. Rules for behaviour
If you contact us, review us, or post anything anywhere we host, keep it lawful and civil. You must not:
- break any law, or encourage anyone else to;
- post hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene or defamatory content, or bully or intimidate anyone;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are;
- send spam, chain messages, or unsolicited promotions for your own goods and services;
- upload malware, probe or attack the site, or attempt to gain access to anything you are not meant to reach;
- post someone else's personal information, or anything you do not have the right to share.
We may remove any content that breaks these rules without notice, and report unlawful behaviour to the authorities.
11. Accounts
If we ever offer accounts on this site, you are responsible for the accuracy of the details you give us and for keeping your password private. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account. We may suspend or disable an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably suspect of fraud, or that has been dormant for a long period. You may ask us to close your account at any time.
12. Website availability, errors and liability
We take care over this site, but we provide it “as is”. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption, that it will be free of errors, or that any information on it is complete or current. Maintenance, hosting problems and outages happen, and we are not liable for loss caused by the site being unavailable.
Nothing on this site is an appraisal, an investment recommendation, or advice on the resale value of a piece. Precious metal and gemstone prices move, and we make no representation about what any item will be worth in the future.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with any purchase or service is limited to the amount you paid us for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
13. Warranty and care
Our workmanship is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase or of the completed repair. The guarantee does not cover ordinary wear, damage from accident or misuse, loss of stones from impact, work carried out by another jeweler, or the natural softening and thinning of metal over years of daily wear. Jewelry is worn, not stored, so we recommend a check of settings and clasps once a year. We do that free of charge for pieces bought here.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the courts of Massachusetts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Nothing here affects the consumer rights you have under Massachusetts law, including under Chapter 93A.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the business changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised, and the version in force is the one published here when you place your order or leave your item with us.
Return and Refund Policy
Jewelry is bought for a reason, and sometimes the piece is not right. If that happens, here is exactly how we handle it.
Terms of return
You may return an eligible piece within fourteen (14) days of receiving it, or of collecting it from the shop. Items bought as gifts between 1 November and 24 December may be returned until 15 January. We cannot accept a return requested after the window has closed.
State of return
The piece must come back to us:
- unworn and unaltered: not resized, engraved, polished, plated or reset by anyone else;
- in its original condition, free of scratches, marks and signs of wear;
- in its original box and packaging, with every tag still attached and unbroken;
- with all paperwork: the receipt, and any laboratory certificate, appraisal or warranty card that came with it.
A missing certificate is expensive to replace, and its cost will be deducted from the refund. We inspect every returned piece, and where an item comes back worn or altered we may decline the return and send it back to you.
Reason for return
You do not need a reason to return an eligible stock piece within the window. Tell us anyway if you can; it helps us. Where an item arrives damaged, faulty or not what you ordered, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the piece and the packaging. We will repair it, replace it, or refund it in full including shipping, at your choice.
What we cannot take back
- custom and bespoke commissions, and special orders made to your specification;
- engraved, resized or otherwise personalised pieces;
- earrings and other pierced jewelry, for hygiene reasons;
- items sold as final sale, clearance, estate or as-is, which are marked as such at the time of purchase;
- completed repair and restoration work, but if a repair is not right, bring it back and we will put it right;
- gift cards.
None of this affects your rights where an item is genuinely faulty.
Process for return
- Contact us first. Call the shop on 857-991-1679 or come in, with your receipt or order number to hand. Do not ship anything back before you have spoken to us: unannounced parcels cannot be traced to an order, and we cannot accept liability for them.
- We confirm eligibility and give you a return reference.
- Bring it in, or ship it. Returning in person at 333 Washington Street is fastest. If you ship, use an insured, tracked, signature-required service, insure it for the full purchase price, and pack it so nothing moves inside the box. The piece remains your responsibility until it reaches us.
- We inspect the piece within three business days of receiving it and confirm the outcome.
Process of refund
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
- We process the refund within five business days of approving the return. Your bank or card issuer then takes a further five to ten business days to post it, which is outside our control.
- We refund the price paid and any sales tax. Original shipping is refunded only where the item was faulty, damaged or wrongly sent.
- Return shipping is at your cost unless the item was faulty, damaged or wrongly sent, in which case we cover it.
- Deposits on custom work are refundable only to the extent that labour and materials have not yet been committed.
- Gifts returned with a gift receipt are refunded as store credit to the person returning them; refunds to the original payment method go to the original purchaser.
Exchanges
We are happy to exchange an eligible piece within the same window, on the same conditions. Where the new piece costs more, the difference is payable at the time of exchange; where it costs less, we refund the difference to the original payment method. First resizing on a ring bought here is free within thirty days.
